Summary A detailed study of the nutritional status of effluents from land-based fish farms as fertilizer for relevant plant species, adapt state-of-the-art technology and compare several aquaponic systems to meet the current and future challenges of both the aquaculture and horticulture industry, to develop commercial Aquaponics in the Nordic countries.
(1) Enhance the innovation capability in the Nordic marine sector and thereby its profitability and competitiveness in a global market; (2) Visualise the sector as an interesting sector with huge potential; (3) Strengthen and establish B2B and B2R cooperation and support Nordic "value chains" - horizontal and vertical; (4) Create platform for multi-disciplinary/sectorial cooperation; (5) Cooperation with Canada; (6) Create Nordic value through more cooperation between Nordic and national innovation agencies.
