Summary Improving farming systems and diversifying the supply of species are two priority challenges for the development and consolidation of marine fish farming. The common critical point to advance in both aspects is the larval stage. To date, larval rearing systems in fish depend on the simultaneous production of live food (microalgae, rotifers and Artemia), methodologies that imply an obvious effort, space and additional costs. The development of new microparticulation techniques has contributed to the achievement of very promising results in the substitution of live food for experimental microparticulate diets, but above all it has made it possible to have tools that are much needed to advance in nutrition. Currently, the experimental micro-diets for the initiation of feeding in fish larvae only work partially. These limitations are considered to be mainly due to deficiencies in the formulation. In this sense, the protein and lipid fractions of the food are those that have received the most attention in studies of manipulation of the live diet. The general objective of the project is to advance in nutritional aspects that improve the formulation and results of micro-diets for marine fish larvae.
1) To adapt the protein fraction of the diet to the nutritional needs of the larvae by adjusting the percentages of hydrolyzates and amino acid profile by including hydrolyzates of different composition with variable amounts of free amino acids and peptides. 2) To improve the lipid fraction by supplementing with phospholipids of marine origin. This study includes a first eminently technological part in which the protein hydrolysates and peptides will be obtained from plant products, and the effective inclusion of the compounds will be evaluated. mentioned in a microparticle that must be stable in an aqueous medium, and a second physiological part, which aims to evaluate its nutritional use.
