BlueBio is an ERA-NET COFUND created to directly identify new and improve existing ways of bringing bio-based products and services to the market and find new ways of creating value from in the blue bioeconomy.

The objective is to provide guidelines for the implementation of measure 2.51 of the EMFF ""Increasing the potential of aquaculture sites"" according to the provisions of the Strategic Plan for aquaculture in Italy 2014-2020 and for the following obligations: 1) realization of a study for the improvement of knowledge on aquatic ecosystems aimed at identifying and mapping the areas suitable for aquaculture activities (ZONE 1), the areas suitable for aquaculture activities subject to regulation/limitation (ZONE 2) and of areas unsuitable for aquaculture activities (ZONE 3); 2) preparation of the regional plan for the areas allocated for aquaculture (AZA) at sea and for aquaculture in inland waters (Plan). The Plan contains the identification and mapping of the most suitable areas for the development of aquaculture (intensive, semi-intensive, extensive) and of the areas in which aquaculture activities should be excluded. The Plan also identifies new areas to be allocated for the development of shellfish farming to be specifically designated on the base of the Legislative Decree 3 April 2006, n. 152.
