Summary Within the mass production of fish in aquaculture today one of the main problems is the power, because a very important part of the product mix for the production of feed based on fish meal. Therefore it is necessary the production of species whose diet is mostly plant matter basis. Among the different species with the right profile is selected the group of mullet, group represented five different species Liza aurata, Liza ramada, Liza saliens, Chelon labrosus and Mugil cephalus. Of these the most interesting are Chelon labrosus and Mugil cephalus, as both species reach a size superior to the rest in less time. Also, look for a species that naturally matures within the teaching period of the 2011-2012 school year, with only one species which meet this requirement, the Liseta (Chelon labrosus), which matures naturally between the months of April and May. Our purpose is to conduct a controlled and parallel maturation of this species in aquaculture facilities of all the centres involved in the project, and our centre that provides fish the rest of them, starting from a common batch and based on the experience gained mullet maintenance at our facilities. Similarly we mark the common lines start though each centre meets your production conditions based on their own facilities and the alumni/ae and faculty/as within their regular class hours.
(1) Reproduction in captivity of mugílido Chelon labrosus; (2) Students and teachers involved in the project will be those who have to acquire knowledge necessary to control the maturation and spawn of this species, and transfer this knowledge to companies that might be interested in producing them.
