The aim of the project is to study the differences between amino acids derived from protein, synthetic amino acids and synthetic amino acids bound to sugars in the commercial product “Devamine” on the flow of amino acids from feed into plasma. The objectives of the present research are: (1) Development of the technique in which blood is taken from the Caudal artery/vein and analysed using the Waters UPLC equipment to determine the variation in amino acid concentrations between fish and over the day – ie a different times after feeding. (2) Comparison of 4 diets supplying similar concentrations of essential amino acids but from different sources.
