Breeding of farmed fish is one of FHF's priority areas under sustainable aquaculture. The purpose of the workshop on lumpfish was to bring together companies and institutions that have been involved in development work for farming and the use of lumpfish as cleaner fish in the salmon farming industry as part of the industry's environmental strategy. Roe biscuits could be an important alternative species to wrasse, especially north of Lofoten where wrasse are not naturally found. It is important to be introduced to the activities that have been started in the farming of lumpfish and what challenges industries face in terms of production technology, health, technology development and not least how roe biscuits will function as lice eaters in salmon cages.
