BlueBio is an ERA-NET COFUND created to directly identify new and improve existing ways of bringing bio-based products and services to the market and find new ways of creating value from in the blue bioeconomy.

The proposed activity aimed to provide scientific support to the Ministry of Environment and the local Administrations that were involved in technical-scientific procedural aspects to regulate the development of cage culture in order to reduce its potential environmental impact. The activity involved the updating of the criteria and procedures to be used for the allocation of marine areas of mariculture activities, in order to control the effects of these activities on the environment and resources of the marine environment.
