Salmon lice are a significant and increasing problem for the Norwegian aquaculture industry. Resistance to several of the chemical agents used for de-lice is a growing problem, and it is therefore necessary to have good complementary control measures that are not drug-based. Mechanical removal of lice by rinsing with water is one such measure. Flatsetsund Enginering AS has made a washer that removes lice and then collects them in a filter system. Salmar AS has already purchased such a system and wants to carry out a project that documents the effect of the method better than the documentation available today. Goals: To document the de-lice effect of Flatsetsund's lice washer. Impact on fish welfare will also be considered. To the extent relevant, the report will also mention areas that need further investigation if the effect of the washer is so good that one can expect it to be used commercially.
