SINTEF is working on a new design for farmed nets and new mooring solutions that can reduce escapes. Central to the new net concepts is the design and placement of cross ropes where you clearly see weaknesses with several of the solutions available on the market today. In addition, the researchers are working to reduce the complexity of mooring fish farms. Norwegian fish farmers see the escape of fish from fish farms as a challenge. This challenge has now been addressed through the project "New escape-proof cage concept" which is being implemented by SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture in collaboration with fish farming companies and technology producers, with funding from FHF (Fisheries and Aquaculture Research Fund).
