BlueBio is an ERA-NET COFUND created to directly identify new and improve existing ways of bringing bio-based products and services to the market and find new ways of creating value from in the blue bioeconomy.

In the light of severe damage to sea-cages due to harsh weather conditions in Iceland this project is established to: Ø To gather all available environmental and weather information that have to be taken into consideration to develop fish farming equipment to be used in Icelandic waters. Ø Screen existing farming equipment in light of the conditions in Icelandic waters Ø Modify, if necessary, available systems to fit for Iceland Ø Test out the best alternatives under Icelandic conditions for functionality in light of fish well-being and working conditions. Outcome will be an Icelandic sea-cage construction for Icelandic weather conditions and the Icelandic farming industry.
