In this project, basic and applied research is performed to support the development of new and energy-efficient technologies for recirculation systems. Some of the research issues are: - to develop new filter technologies and energy efficient aeration systems; - to develop process- and CFD models to improve our understanding and insight into dynamic variation in water quality parameters; - to determine the importance of particulate matter for biofilter operation; - to develop tools and instruments for advanced regulation and control of recirculating aquaculture systems; and - to develop technologies for waste management.
