The SEAWEED-STAR project will develop a technology that is fundamentally different from the current rope-based methods of cultivating seaweed. It is a step change innovation that will allow seaweed cultivation in deeper and more exposed waters, opening the way for large-scale production that is necessary to make seaweed a viable Energy crop. SES aims to develop a cost efficient and sustainable large-scale offshore seaweed cultivation system, based on the principles of the patented Seaweed Carrier cultivation concept.
