Through the MAROFF / industry-financed project "Service vessel 2010", many inputs and views have been received in relation to the further development of the aquaculture industry in general and aquaculture vessels in particular. Larger fish farms and more advanced operations have increased the need to be able to "see and give a helping hand" underwater. The alternative solutions for demanding underwater operations today are to use divers or ROVs. ROV has been increasingly used in the last couple of years, i.a. associated with de-lice operations, inspection of nets and anchor lines, and it is expected that this trend will be further strengthened in the years to come. It is therefore assumed that there will be a future market for "ROV and subsea specialists", with a need for efficient vessels that facilitate ROV operations and other subsea operations in a better way. In order to succeed with the development of such vessels, one wants to bring together a larger number of actors who can shed light on issues, make demands from different points of view and develop solutions. A large number of industry actors, especially service providers and users of vessels for underwater operations, have given their consent to participate in the project.
