The background for the program was FHF's desire to carry out a research program where one would work with different aspects of the escape problem. It was especially important for FHF to look more closely at the most important causes of escapes as they are expressed in the escape statistics. SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture (SFH) was commissioned to lead the program and to make significant contributions in the implementation of the projects.
