AquaScan, a technology developed for counting and weighing farmed fish, has had its efficacy and accuracy tested on both live wild-caught cod and also on farmed cod. 24 tests were conducted on fish of various weights and size variations, and only one of these tests was within Justervesenets (Norwegian Metrology Service) requirement of 1 % accuracy. 9 out of 24 tests were also within the Directorate of Fisheries regulation of 3 % accuracy for vessel quota billing. This technology can therefore not be implemented in the live-fish industry by change of ownership or used to document and evaluate vessel's catch quotas. Goal: to get approval for suitable counting and weighing systems for live fish, in terms of turnover (Justervesenet) and resource settlement (Directorate of Fisheries). Sub-goals 1. To evaluate available counting and weighing systems in terms of capacity and efficiency, gentleness and precision. 2. To establish a professional basis for any approval. 3. To carry out a process in collaboration with the administration and the industry's organizations, which leads to the possible approval of suitable counting and weighing systems.
