The project is part of an agreement program between the Ministry of the Environment and the Water Authority. It aims to reclaim the lagoon areas in front of Porto Marghera in order to restore legitimate uses such as fishing and clam farming. The activities carried out to support the interventions were a collection and synthesis of the existing information relating to the ecological conditions of the area, in particular for the quality aspects of the biota, including the Tapes resource; the evaluation of the optimal environmental characteristics for the productivity of the Tapes resource (granulometry, hydrodynamics, chemical-physical characteristics of greater importance); support in the definition of intervention criteria protecting the biodiversity of the area, also in compliance with the provisions of the relevant community legislation (in particular the "Habitat" Directive, the Sixth Environmental Action Program and Directive 2000/60 / EC ); definition of ecological quality objectives, also in relation to European legislation and the objectives set by Directive 2000/60 / EC; definition of the chemical quality objectives of the area in relation to the restitution to the legitimate uses of the fishing assumed; evaluations regarding the possible management of the areas according to their return to legitimate uses; support in the use of the environmental investigations carried out in the subsequent design phases; planning of environmental monitoring and the effectiveness of interventions. Goals: Environmental characterization of the area located at north of the Vittorio Emanuele III canal (MAPVE 2 area); execution of integrative eco-biological investigations about the distribution and possible accumulation of contaminants in the Tapes philippinarum to be carried out in the MAPVE 1 area; environmental monitoring of the effects of the interventions, to verify the influence of construction site activities and the achievement of project objectives; evaluation of the results of the application of specific site technologies for the dredging of shallow water hot-spots (subject of a separate executive project).
