The aim of the project is to present a guideline to associations, private initiatives and ministries to allow successful and sustainable restockings of the indigenous and endangered noble crayfish. The AWI coordinates the project and will take over the following tasks. Theoretical Basis: the AWI will conduct a full literature review of documented restocking measures and will conduct on-site semi-structured interviews with respective project funders and initiatives before summarising the results. The collated evaluation criteria for successful restocking will then be discussed and agreed by project and cooperation partners under AWI moderation. Sampling and analysis: the AWI samples selected restocking waters over a period of one year and records water parameters. Tests for crayfish plague vectors will be carried out together with project partners. Measures catalogue: knowledge collated in the literature review, interviews and water sampling will then be analysed by AWI and translated into a catalogue of measures needed. This will be presented at a workshop and published in a public database. Risk analysis, sensitisation and restocking: under AWI leadership and using the criteria and recommendations in the catalogue, the project and cooperation partners will select the waters to be stocked and these will be restocked with regional genetic lines. Monitoring: using the measures catalogue, the AWI will discuss with the fisheries organisations the monitoring following the restocking measures. After completion of the project the AWI will also continue to provide consultation to the fisheries organisations on monitoring.
