Dark spots in salmon fillets are a major and costly quality problem for the Norwegian farming industry, where approx. every 7th fish has some form of dark discoloration in the fillet. Smaller spots can be cut away without significantly affecting the quality of the fillet, while fillets with larger spots are downgraded and/or may lead to complaints. With the expected increased production of fillets at Norwegian facilities, quality defects such as dark spots will appear to a greater extent in the company's own company rather than out at the customers'; the relevance of keeping a good overview of the occurrence of dark spots is therefore expected to increase for Norwegian companies in the future. Main objective: To map the occurrence of dark spots in salmon fillets from Norwegian salmon farming. Sub-goals: • To map the occurrence in relation to where (geography). • To map how the salmon is produced. • To contribute to ensuring that the simple and automated registration methodology developed in the project can be continued after the end of the project period.
