The Baltic Sea Boxensurvey (BaltBox) is an independent scientific survey of demersal fish fauna undertaken by the German Thuenen-Institute of Baltic Sea Fisheries according to international standard (BITS). It is carried out annually in June in five defined non-varying areas (“boxes”) within the German territorial waters of the Baltic Sea. This provides informative data about species composition and long-term changes of the demersal fish fauna in the region.
