Biodiversity includes diversity of ecosystems, species, populations and their genetic diversity. Effective conservation of diversity urgently relies on fast and accurate identication of the status of such diversity. Molecular genetics’ innovative methods that analyse environmental DNA may be assessed and applied locally. The goods and services provided, the increasing discoveries and biotechnological applications related to the genetic resources and diversity of life forms, have placed research strategies for biodiversity conservation at the forefront of future economic wellbeing, human survival and best resource management practices. BioCon_Innovate will advance the effectiveness of monitoring through eDNA analyses of Maltese habitats.
