Incidental catch is the most common cause harm to whales and dolphins in the Mediterranean Sea. States should assess the incidental catches of whales and dolphins in their area, according to the methodology developed within the ACCOBAMS (direct monitoring of fishing vessels, survey) and to introduce measures to reduce this impact, especially if it proves important for the future survival of this species.
