During the project period, a close collaboration was initiated with NTNU, which led to a thorough review of all that has to do with fuel cells and the current status within the use of this technology towards the fishing fleet to do. The work ended with a comprehensive report that student Knut Tore Aurdal wrote in connection with his project assignment. The main conclusion after this work is that there is a lot of interesting going on regarding the development of fuel cells, but with current prices for equipment, this is too expensive to use in the fishing fleet. The most immediate application of fuel cells will be to use these to cover auxiliary power (electricity production) on board fishing vessels that currently use diesel generators.
