The Clean&Care project is based on a participatory approach among the various stakeholders (politicians, scientists, fishermen), who share responsibilities and interests in the Lesina lagoon ecosystem. This integrated approach sees the combination of scientific monitoring activities and policy management protocols. In particular, the project envisages environmental monitoring activities, before and after "marine litter" recovery interventions, aimed at assessing environmental quality and achieving Good Environmental Status (GES) in accordance with European directives (Water Framework Directive 2000 /60). In this context, the monitoring will be carried out taking into account some biotic and abiotic descriptors for a detailed assessment of the biodiversity and ecological integrity of the lagoon of Lesina, while in parallel the recovery of the "marine litter" will be carried out and the most suitable procedures will be identified for the its recycling and/or disposal. The monitoring program will be able to provide useful indications for a correct restoration plan of the Lesina lagoon.
