The Co4SSF project has the objective of introducing new systematic approaches to the management of fishing activities in the context of building the knowledge necessary to support the integrated management of the coastal strip and of the maritime compartments in which protected habitats fall, with particular reference to the small-scale fishing sector currently lacking a solid layer of information. An innovative system of data collection, analysis and management support for small-scale fisheries will therefore be developed within the project. The data collection and systematic characterization of small-scale fishing activities will be developed through the involvement of fishing operators and stakeholders and integrated by ecological knowledge, through analysis tools and spatial planning of the uses of the shared sea which will take into account the impacts on the environment and potential conflicts with other uses. This approach will favor the design of integrated management protocols among small-scale fishing operators with a view to sustainable management of marine environment resources.
