This project aims to develop constructive operational approaches to rebuilding depleted fish stocks, as well as clearly establish the theory and rationale of such approaches. The project will question and explore the current concepts of productivity and equilibrium in dynamical fishery systems, and develop new thinking - where applicable - on the practical strategies required to meet the goal of the Johannesburg declaration. It is intended that several key scientific papers be produced on this subject. The project will thus underpin the development of practical measures for the recovery and long terms sustainable management of depleted fish stocks such as Cod.
