Project aims are to develop a sealsafe, ergonomical and economically sustainable creel fishery as an alternative to the traditional gillnets, which are very vulnerable to conflicts with the growing grey seal population. Full scale trials with hired fishermen are done during 2010. Goals:(1) Create a new fishery as the gillnet fishery will in the future more or less vanish depending on conflict with seals; (2) Test an develop cod pots that are ealsafe, ergonomical and economically sustainable; (3) Start an implementation of the fishing gear in the commercial fishery.
