Summary In the last decade, 143 fishermen have fallen overboard (man overboard (MOB)) with personal injury. 94 of these have died. A fisherman from a one-man sharq who falls overboard therefore has statistically little probability of survival. A functional emergency stop and warning will significantly increase the chances of survival.
Emergency stops and notifications therefore have a significant potential to reduce the number of deaths at sea. Dimeq has developed technology that can with great advantage be reshaped and adapted to the requirements specifications that have been prepared in a preliminary project.
A successful development also has a large potential transfer value to other geographic markets and related applications, such as work boats in the aquaculture industry.
Main objective:
To develop and test a commercial system for emergency stop and notification for the coastal fishing fleet.
Sub-goals:
1. To investigate various approval schemes that suppliers have to deal with. Determine prerequisites from emergency agencies for the implementation of a commercial notification system.
2. To update the requirement specification for emergency stop in collaboration with active fishermen and system supplier (parallel with the development).
3. To develop a technical solution for emergency stop that corresponds to the requirement specification.
4. To update the requirements specification for notification in collaboration with emergency services and system supplier (parallel with the development).
5. To develop a technical solution for notification that corresponds to the requirement specification.
6. To full-scale test and correct errors with two cooperating shipping companies.
7. Possibly getting approval from approval bodies, which will be the system developer's responsibility.
