Fishing with purse seine is a fishing method that is positive from the point of view of sustainability by being energy efficient, gentle on the seabed and having little bycatch. However, the operation itself is relatively complex and there are many opportunities to make mistakes with the risk of serious personal injury, damaged equipment and loss of fish. Given good educational training plans, a good simulator can help make the operation more efficient and increase safety through training on the routine elements during surgery, but also in dangerous situations, e.g. as a result of weather conditions or operation due to reduced technical functionality on the vessel. Performance target: To develop a training simulator for purse seiners where the boat operator and crew can train on relevant phases during fishing, which includes vessel handling, detection of fish using acoustic instruments, setting, snaring and hauling of seines, as well as pumping catch to tanks (cooling facilities of sea water (RSW) on board.
