Atlantic herring (Clupea harengus) is one of the most abundant fish species and an important economical and nutritional resource. The species is a highly migratory species, making it difficult to elucidate the population structure. The aim of this project is to sequence the Atlantic herring genome from 4 industrially important populations in order to identify genetic population structures and develop a stock identification tool for stock management and catch monitoring in the fisheries industry.
