In recent years, FHF has supported 23 projects where health, safety and the environment (HSE) have been in focus. On behalf of FHF, SINTEF has prepared a proposal for an action plan with recommended themes for R&D projects for 2011–2013. The priorities are based on HSE status in the fishing fleet, National strategy for prevention of accidents that cause personal injury and the conclusions from the survey in 2008 and seminar on HSE in the fishing fleet in Trondheim, 11 May 2010. In the proposed action plan, R & D- the areas are mainly divided into two main areas: • Acquire new knowledge and develop measures to prevent accidents and injuries in the fishing fleet, and thus make the fishing fleet a safer and more attractive workplace. • Develop tools for a systematic and effective implementation of HSE measures and safety work in the fishing fleet, including dissemination of knowledge about preventive measures to save lives and health. In the action plan for FHF, HSE in the fishing fleet has previously been separated out as a separate subcategory, but as of 2011, HSE is integrated into all relevant R&D activities across the categories. The project's target is to contribute to better health, environment and safety in the fishing fleet.
