In the beginning of the 1990s, a fundamental regime shift changed the pelagic ecosystem in the Baltic Sea. Whereas good data series are available for recent years, data prior to this regime shift are hardly available, because these data are not stored in electronic formats. Nevertheless a comparison of both ecosystem states (before and after the regime shift) requires the availability of old data, too. The Institute of Baltic Sea Fisheries (OSF) holds a data series of hydroacoustic spring surveys conducted in the 1980s. Unfortunately, these data are available solely as paper copies. Goal of the project is digitize those data (biological data, integrated echo data and echograms) to make them accessible for later analysis.
