This project will assist in the management action required to bring the fisheries for edible crab and lobster in line with the Marine Strategy Framework Directive and it is therefore imperative that research is undertaken to reduce uncertainty in mortality parameter estimates to ensure that model error is minimized and that Maximum Sustainable Yield reference points are as accurate and robust as possible to underpin such management actions. To provide more robust estimates of natural mortality and to investigate and quantify the incidental mortality of crab and lobster.
