The industrial fishery in the North Sea removes considerable quantities of sandeel from the ecosystem. These fish are also the prime food source for many seabird species and cetaceans. It is investigated how sustainable the sandeel fishery in the North Sea is and to what extent the other predators suffer from the impact of the fishery on the resource.
