Line operations are highlighted by several players in the value chain as a focus area for the coastal fleet. The land industry emphasizes the quality aspect, and for fishermen this is a tool that is well suited to increase the total value of the cod quota by the line providing more by-catch of other species. Haddock in particular, but also catfish, tusk and ling, are by-catches from line fishing and are caught to a small extent on nets. In order to further develop coastal fishing, it may be useful to carry out an R&D survey in which a close dialogue with the fishermen outlines and prioritises the most important R&D challenges for this fleet group. In the coastal fleet, this can be particularly demanding as it includes many players that are spread over a large geographical area. In this round, the goal will be to address line fishing for the fleet <28 meters, and here create a dialogue between researchers and fishermen. Central user-oriented R&D needs in the fleet group will be to: 1) further develop the form of operation 2) facilitate future-oriented solutions 3) increase recruitment and focus on HSE 4) coordinate and target initiatives 5) optimize catch processing and value creation. • To identify and visit important line environments along the coast and arrange gatherings where the business actors around the coastal line fishing are invited to provide input to R&D areas. • To establish a professional group of working fishermen from different parts of the coast who contribute to the structuring and prioritization of the proposals. • To summarize input for a report that describes the fleet group's most important R & D priorities.
