IMR and CMR has developed a software for characterization of acoustic recordings from multiple frequency acoustics. It was the objectives of MIAKO to transfer this technology to a software platform that could use the experience from science into application i commercial fishing. The idea is that similarities of acoustic recordings of mackerel and herring and sometimes horse mackerel causes fishermen to catch unwanted species with large economic consequences and sometimes with illegal release of unwanted fish. MIAKO implemented autonomous software that continuously evaluated the acoustic data and indicated species composition with associated uncertainty. Goal to transfer scientific results in multiple frequency analysis to a product for species separation in the commercial fishing fleet.
