Start year 2020 End year 2021 Funding (€) € 249,345 Website https://cinea.ec.europa.eu/system/files/2022-07/HZ0722550ENN.en_.pdf Summary The purpose of MedBLand is to contribute to an improved understanding by mapping, assessing and evaluating the management measures put in place to implement the landing obligation. This should help, in particular, to gain an overview of the measures put in place per Member State, per fisheries and per sea basin and to build up knowledge on whether these measures were successful in reducing discards. The measures shall include the structures and resources adopted by Member States' authorities to ensure control, enforcement and inspection of activities relevant to the landing obligation and the measures employed to ensure the detailed and accurate documentation of all fishing trips and relevant data. The impact of the management measures on the development of the discard rates will be assessed. This qualitative assessment should also extend to the integration of these management measures in relation to the discards rates, to ensure that an integral assessment and synthesis is achieved.
