The project aims to shed light on how new and advanced technical solutions developed for other vessel types can be implemented on smaller coastal vessels to achieve higher energy efficiency and better safety. The study will take a closer look at the following main areas: • fuel economy and exhaust emissions • working environment and safety • raw material quality and documentation The project was initiated by Jostein Størksen who is an active fisherman based on long experience from both sea-going vessels and coastal fishing vessels. The goal is to prepare a study that evaluates different technical solutions to see what can be available for, or can be adapted to, smaller vessels. The solutions shall, as far as possible, be based on technology and solutions that are already known from larger sea-going fishing vessels and from the merchant and offshore fleet.
