There is considerable attention to the responsible utilization of fishery resources. This means i.a. that one must not damage fish that are not taken on board while fishing, cf. new regulations on this. Fish that ""run"" over the skin during penetration, especially with large, heavy nets, are not desirable. A newly developed purse seine that prevents fish from escaping in this way will be able to contribute to seine fishing becoming more resource-friendly and thus contribute to strengthening sustainable fisheries. The project is anchored in FHF's action plan for 2011. Under Catch Technology, it is stated that it wants to ""Contribute to the development of net technology for gentle release of catch and quantity limitation"". The project will be closely linked to the ongoing FHF project ""Development of resource- and environment-friendly net technology"" , and have a joint project management and steering group with this. Goal: to develop a new skin purse that prevents fish from escaping over the skin in a net cast.
