The fishing profession is among the most risky in Norway, with high figures for occupational accidents and injuries. At the same time, the industry's players do not experience that the quantities of medicines delivered from pharmacies in some way in relation to the need on board, and that much must therefore be discarded. The Fisheries and Aquaculture Research Fund has invested significantly over a three-year period resources in a comprehensive HSE program where research projects related to accident statistics, risk assessments, attitudes / motivation as well as protection and environmental work have had a large place. Renewed statistics processed by SINTEF Fiskeri og havbruk AS have been made more specific types of damage and vessel size / mode of operation. It has given us a better insight into the damage picture on board on Norwegian fishing vessels. Medical equipment, needs and use of medication are closely related.
