Develop grid systems that sort out bycatch of saithe, cod, and monkfish in the small meshed trawl fishery for blue whiting and Norway pout, in close collaboration with the Directorate of Fisheries and the fishing industry . Grid systems tested and already introduced in big semipelagic trawls reduce bycatch of saithe with more than 95 % by weight, with a loss of target fish of less than 1 %. Grid systems for small-meshed bottom trawls will be tested in 2010.
