The SeAlien project aims to address two different but connected problems, both causes of severe impacts on biodiversity and ecosystems, with serious repercussions on all sectors of the blue economy. It is about the presence of microplastics and alien species in the coastal marine area of Lazio, an area of considerable importance for the professional and artisanal fishing sector, where, however, there is a lack of data on these emerging tipologies of impact. The project is supported by local fishing cooperatives, first victims of the phenomenon, together with which days of public debate and dissemination will be organized, with the support of municipal administrations that support the project. Through this wide participation of different realities involved in the problem, we intend to encourage a broad reflection on these forms of emerging contamination, a correct information and a punctual communication necessary in order to promote knowledge and environmental awareness of sea operators and citizens on the topic.
