The aim of the topic was to estimate the magnitude of cod angling catches in 2004 and its impact on the evaluation of the state of resources. This factor has been omitted in stock estimations until now. Such catches are not documented, and their limitation involves the determination of the allowable number of cod that one angler can catch within a period of 24 hours. A detailed description of angling activities has yet to be published. The results of this topic are meant to fill in this gap. General Task: (1) Recognizing the importance and possible methodology of cod recreational catches investigations in Poland, prior to the accession to EU (in 2005), since each EU Member State is responsible to monitor recreational catches within EU funds in the framework of National Fisheries Data Collection. Results expected: (1) Methods to monitor recreational fisheries developed; (2) Number of anglers and angling trips examined; (3) Cod angling catch level estimated.
