The general aim of the project is related to the identification and description of fishing strategies adopted in the Northern Adriatic Sea as information basis in order to foster the implementation of an ecosystem approach considering possible co-management practices. Goals: (1) To obtain, by direct observations and comparison with official data, a complete description of the fishing fleet acting at basic level in the Northern Adriatic Se, and taking into account the most important fishing sectors (e.g. otter-tral, rapido trowl, mid-water pair pelagic trawl, hydraulic dredge, static geras); (2) To describe on quali-quantitative basis, the seasonal captures of such fishing gear, both in terms of commercial catch and discard; (3) To set up a mass balance model for the description of trophic relationship and ecosystem state variables for the Northern Adriatic Sea, implementing previous models, to be further used in the future for management simulations.
