BlueBio is an ERA-NET COFUND created to directly identify new and improve existing ways of bringing bio-based products and services to the market and find new ways of creating value from in the blue bioeconomy.

How have recent years' changes in fleet structure and technology affected recruitment to the fishing fleet? Over the past few decades, there has been much discussion about recruitment to the fishing fleet. In 2007 and 2015, the Norwegian Fisheries College and Ruralis conducted two surveys among active fishermen that showed the development from 2007 to 2015. While the survey in 2007 showed that there were recruitment challenges in some fleet groups, the results from 2015 indicate that the situation had changed for the better. After 2015, there have been changes in the fleet structure, which has had consequences for the group division in the coastal fishing fleet. With a new quota announcement on the horizon, it is now important to get new figures on the table about how the recruitment situation for the fishing fleet has developed after 2015. Goal: Conducting telephone interviews with 1,500 fishermen (from December 2022 to April 2023) as well as making three full data sets on recruitment available for research.
