This project aimed at understanding and predicting the population dynamics of Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua) in Greenlandic water sin response to climate change. This was achieved through biological, chemical and genetic analysis of unique cod otolith collections, generating historical time series on growth, food composition and genetic population structure. Relationships between environmental changes and the historical distribution, size and growth of individual cod populations was elucidated and used to predict their dynamics under different climate scenarios. The project generated fundamental insights, but also contributed significantly to proactive management of cod in Greenland.
