The project aims at answering the question whether, or not, the length of larva period in lanternfish representatives is a feature specific to a species or a feature which depends on environmental parameters, mainly on larva evolution temperature. Goal: Attempt to identify the mechanisms that lead to a high species diversity in Myctophidae by identifying the larval stage duration in particular species. This character may be a species specific or dependent on environmental variables, e.g. temperature.
