The Fisheries and Aquaculture Research Fund (FHF) co-finances a development project with main purpose to develop a new type of shrimp trawl with significantly reduced towing resistance compared to traditional shrimp trawls. The project is led by Teknologiforum in Norway Fiskarlag and carried out by the Institute of Marine Research in Bergen in collaboration with SINTEF, Fisheries and Aquaculture, department Hirtshals. The project is carried out in three phases, where the development of trawl concepts were included in phase 1, while model experiments in 1:10 and 1: 2 scale are the main element in phase Phase 3 will consist of full-scale testing of the most promising trawl concept.
