"BlueBRIDGE focused on supporting capacity building in interdisciplinary research communities actively involved in increasing scientific knowledge about resource overexploitation, degraded environments and ecosystems with the aim of providing a more solid ground for informed advice to competent authorities and to enlarge the spectrum of growth opportunities as addressed by the Blue Growth Societal Challenge. The project capitalized on past investments and uses the proven D4 Science infrastructure. BlueBRIDGE developed innovative services using the Virtual Research Environments (VREs), in the following areas: - Ecosystem approach to Fisheries - services for stock assessment and for the generation of unique identifiers for global stocks - Aquaculture - services supporting the analysis of socio-economic performance in aquaculture - Maritime Spatial Planning - spatial planning services to identify aquaculture and fisheries infrastructures from satellite imagery and tools to visualize, analyze and report on a range of ecologically important seafloor features within marine protected areas - Education - tools to set up and deliver training courses in a cost-effective way"
