"The company Levende Mellomlagring Vesterålen AS (LMV) was established on 18.01.2007 with the aim of organizing players in the fleet and marine farming/fishing industry, and ensuring optimal distribution of responsibility, risk and profitability. Over a project period of one year, LMV has established and trialled the operation of cage facilities for the reception, acclimatization and intermediate storage of wild-caught cod both on Myre and in Båtsfjord. Accounts have been prepared here that show the investment needs necessary to establish such facilities, as well as operating calculations that have been used in the follow-up project led by Fisheries Research. There has been a binding horizontal collaboration between the vessels M/S Kloegga, M/S Olagutt and M/S Myrebuen. There has also been binding cooperation in the value chain between these players in the fleet and the participating fishing industry. With this project, LMV has also contributed to building up expertise in Båtsfjord within catch-based aquaculture. Cooperation has been established and formalized with the Norwegian Food Safety Authority as an independent observer. The collaboration is considered to have benefited both parties. Along the way, there has also been a good dialogue with the Directorate of Fisheries. In close cooperation between the project participants and Norway's Raw Fish Association, a form has been drawn up for use in the event of an auction of live cod. The form describes the catch history of the relevant auction lot. With the help of the form, a potential buyer will receive tracking history, information on capture and restitution period, average weight and distribution of weight classes, seller's price requirements as well as carried out health and welfare checks. There has been an ongoing dialogue with Fiskeriforskning regarding the follow-up of this project. The follow-up project, with the name ""Cooperation in catch-based aquaculture, LMV - Economic analysis"", has aimed to map the cost and income relationships of catching, intermediate storage and production of live cod. This is based on the LMV project. Goal: To further develop catch-based aquaculture as a profitable industry, through establishing new knowledge about how optimal organization can increase profitability in both the catch and reception stages."
