A fish juvenile farming project carried out in 2015 in the marine area off the coast of Merikarvia showed that farming is successful in the same way as in the archipelago sea, for example. In the survey of natural reproduction in spring 2015, it was found that there is still a small amount of natural whitefish production in the region. Even small-scale rearing would have the effect of roughly doubling juvenile production. In the second phase of the project, the rearing and repatriation of juveniles of the marine population will continue to be carried out in the marine area off the coast of Merikarvia. In order to determine the fishing importance of the planting, the spray dye marking of farmed fish will continue in cooperation with the Natural Resources Institute and professional fishermen.
